My Blog

30th November 2009
Hello again! Sorry its taken me so long to update you!

Things are going great with the play, and we still have a huge amount of interest in the production. We hope to take it national next year and visit around 10 - 15 theatres around the country - spreading the word of survival. Its amazing the support we are getting from Macmillan and other charities.

The song 'Survive' has now been recorded for a promotional CD and we are looking for the right person to record it and go on sale to the public.

I am attending three Gala Events in the next week or so - so its ball gowns to the ready!

My first is the WFTV Awards in London on Friday 4th December, the second is The Diamond Ball for Macmillan on Saturday 5th December in Birmingham and then the EVE Appeal Gala Evening in London on 9th December. I am very much looking forward to all these events and if you attending also - please come over and say hello!

3rd September
We are delighted to announce that Dame Judi Dench has kindly agreed to endorse the play and she has
written a forward for the theatre programme.
It is wonderful for myself and the production team to have her support.

22nd May
Hello there! Its been awhile since I have spoken to you and really all I have been concentrating on is my Macmillan Cancer Support play ... "Survivorship - To Cancer And Beyond".

Please look out for the new page on my site with all the information - coming soon!

I have just received wonderful news that Finty Williams, Dame Judi Dench's daughter will be performing one of the stories and I am absolutely thrilled. Cancer affects so many lives in the UK and for someone to give up their time to help raise awareness and to help is just fantastic.

I am having lots of meetings and phone calls at the moment - but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Once we have all five actors in place we shall start rehearsals and with singing from the Malvern St James Singers it will be an event not to be missed.

Tickets are going on sale on Monday 29th June for all three performances.
Please go to www.solihull.gov.uk/arts - see 'Arts Complex' then go to 'Events' to find seating plan and to book tickets.

Please come along and support this play - bring friends old and new - and prepare yourself for a powerful and uplifting production with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

17th March
I have been so busy I haven't had time to write you my news!

My play, to be staged on September 17th & 18th at the Solihull Library Theatre Birmingham for Macmillan Cancer Support, is going extremely well and I am busy writing. The exciting news is that Malvern St James Girls School in Worcestershire have kindly agreed to sponsor the play and the Girls Choir will also be performing, including one of my songs.

I have been on BBC Hereford & Worcester radio to promote it and am due on BBC WM radio next week.

I am also co-producing this project along with Martin Nigel Davey, the producer, who is currently contacting some of our top dramatic and comedy female actors for the roles...

Exciting things happening daily.. will keep you posted!!

With regard to my writing I have had a 30 minute interview with Tony Stringfellow of WCR FM reading my poetry and also talking about my projects. A thoroughly enjoyable morning - and Tony's show is really worth a listen!

Other news is that I have been involved with the Birmingham Irish Community Forum for the St Patrick's Day events this week in Birmingham and was delighted to be invited to attend the Civic Reception to meet with the Mayor and dignitaries. Afterwards it was off to the Paragon Hotel, Digbeth for a marvellous evening full of irish music and charm! On the Sunday I walked with the Macmillan group in the St. Patrick's Day Parade dressed as a teacher complete with a cane! A wonderful fun day in Birmingham, where the parade is the third largest!

I have been talking with Pat Wright of the Irish Community Forum and I been asked to host workshops for the young Irish dancers to promote nutrition and healthy eating.

I am preparing for the Birmingham Mail Fun Run on Sunday 3rd May where I shall be talking on Smooth FM radio offering nutritional advice to the runners and walkers. I shall be taking part and then you can come and see me afterwards at my stand.

I have been asked to attend the Macmillan Big Picnic event in London in April to talk about nutrition, along with wonderful sports celebrities - so I am really looking forward to that and I shall let you know all about it soon!

Another exciting project begins soon as I present a documentary about health and beauty for television, hopefull it will become a series of documentaries!

Its going to be a huge success for such a wonderful charity. And the champagne flowed!

Other projects in pipeline... the Macmillan play for September 17th & 18th at Solihull Theatre Library  is coming together now and actors are being sought - again all proceeds will be going to Macmillan. I am writing and co-producing this one and am very excited by the whole thing!

I am also writing a short film drama to highlight the subject of cancer in the Asian community. This will be produced by Phillip Walker of Zone Productions UK and involve leading Asian actors. I can't wait to start working on this - and just know its going to be a fantastic project to be involved in.

I shall be at the Birmingham Mail Fun Run Press Launch at the Alexander Stadium on Thursday 28th talking to people about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle - so I best go and put my running shoes on!
